Golfers don't often take the Franklin Templeton Shootout very seriously and here is an example proving just that. On the ninth hole of the competition on Sunday, Jason Dufner was lining up a birdie putt when he unconsciously bumped the ball with his putter.

Dufner showed some impressive skills after his mistake, flipping the ball up to himself and launching it into the lake. As the broadcasters noted, it was a rather impressive display of hand-eye coordination. Had Dufner utilized those skills in his putt attempt, perhaps he could have earned himself a birdie.

Chad Campbell, standing nearby, started laughing and Dufner couldn't hold back himself. Dustin Johnson, Dufner's partner at the event, made his putt for par following Dufner's error. Luckily, it cost Dufner and Johnson only one stroke and it could have been entirely worse. Dufner will have to be sure he doesn't make a habit of this, especially during tournaments that matter more next year.

Unfortunately for DufnerMatt Kuchar and Harris English won the event, compiling a score of 34-under. Dufner and Johnson finished a distant 18-under, 11th out of 12 in the event.

This was the second humorous moment that Dufner provided this year, his first coming when he tossed his wedge into a creek at Merion in June. Dufner also made headlines earlier this month for requesting that Tiger Woods reschedule a tournament for the purpose of watching Auburn's college football team face Missouri, as reported by USA Today.

Also, you might not have known it from this video, but Dufner won the PGA Championship.

Not bad for a year's work.
