Fantasy Premier League 2014 Week 30: Low-Cost Midfielders Who Promise Big Points

Kevin Nolan continues to get amongst the goals.

With domestic cup action out of the way for another few weeks, we can focus our attention back on the bread and butter of the Premier League.

Fantasy managers had just five games to choose from in last week's fixtures, but Week 30 sees the return of a full programme.

A visit to Villa Park for table-topping Chelsea and West Ham's visit to Stoke City both provide opportunities for players to enhance their reputations and point-scoring ability.

Managers should consider an early purchase and a bargain or two as the stock of certain individuals continues to rise.

Let's see which midfielders represent excellent value for money and who will influence your points tally in Week 30.

Kevin Nolan, West Ham United

Value: £4.4 million

Kevin Nolan is a sound purchase for Fantasy managers.

West Ham's combative captain Kevin Nolan continues to pick up points at a rate of knots, scoring well over the last half a dozen fixtures.

The 31-year-old continues to lead by example and is a real goal threat for the Hammers from the centre of midfield.

His workaholic displays have won him many admirers, and there has even been talk of an England recall, something which Hammers manager Sam Allardyce has dismissed, per BBC Sport:

There are very, very few players better than him at scoring goals from midfield.

He has had a lot of times that he has knocked on the [England] door and I don't think that's going to make much difference for him now.

With such attacking prowess from your centre-mid, can you afford to leave him out of your starting XI?

Adnan Januzaj, Manchester United

Value: £4.8 million

Januzaj has made a huge impact since bursting onto the scene at Old Trafford and will surely become a fixture in the Manchester United attack for years to come.

Whilst this year's Premier title is now beyond David Moyes' men, the challenge will be to finish as high as possible, and the tricky Januzaj can play a huge part in the Reds' rise up the table.

Settled nicely into the left side of the United attack in a 4-2-3-1 formation, the 19-year-old continues to provide a maturity beyond his years and is often the outlet for United's forward press alongside Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata.

United coach Phil Neville noted the youngster's attributes per Ian Ladyman of the Daily Mail:

Everyone knew we had a special talent on our hands, but the real test comes when you play at Old Trafford.

Well, I think he’s answered that.

You have to have the courage, the belief, the confidence, the determination to play for Manchester United - those characteristics are key to a player’s success here and Adnan is no different.

Three goals and two assists in eight starts, per WhoScored.com, needs improving, but with an expected run in the side during the run-in, we should see the youngster troubling the points table over the next few fixtures.

Andre Schurrle, Chelsea

Value: £4.3 million

Sang Tan/Associated Press
Jose Mourinho has praised Andre Schurrle's impact.

Whether it's from the bench as an impact substitute or from the start, Andre Schurrle has begun to justify the faith that manager Jose Mourinho had in him when bringing him to West London from Bayer Leverkusen.

A recent hat-trick at Fulham saw an increase in the points column, and a trip to Villa Park should hold few problems for Jose Mourinho's side.

Schurrle has been used sparingly to this point, but his hard work in the gym appears to be paying off.

The Portuguese has been delighted by the German's progress, hailing his "cold blood" instincts in front of goal, per Martin Lipton of the Daily Mirror.
